Today I’m proud to announce two appointments that will shape the next chapter of Woven Capital.
Michiko Kato has been appointed Woven Capital’s first Chief Investment Officer.
Michiko has been a leader in Toyota’s venture and open innovation journey since joining Woven Capital in 2020. Over that time, she has built lasting relationships across the startup ecosystem and within Toyota. I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how she approaches stakeholder management, engages with portfolio companies, and navigates complex organizational dynamics. This appointment reflects those immense skills, as well as the trust and respect she has earned both internally and externally. In her new role as Woven Capital’s first Chief Investment Officer, Michiko will lead both our Investment and Portfolio Success teams, drive investment strategy, and join our Board of Managers as a voting member.
Mia Panzer is joining Woven Capital as our first Chief Operating Officer.
I first worked with Mia at Carmera, the spatial AI company I founded, where she led finance and operations. She played a key role in building the team, culture, and governance, and helped lead the company’s sale to Woven by Toyota. She has continued to grow across a range of leadership roles at Woven by Toyota, bringing a uniquely cross-functional perspective, strong finance leadership, and sound judgment shaped by experience in both startups and global institutions. As Woven Capital’s first Chief Operating Officer, Mia will anchor our operational strategy, ensuring we can scale effectively across funds, regions, and teams.
These appointments come at an exciting moment for Woven Capital. The work ahead demands sharp investment judgment, deep engagement across our core markets and business units, and a strong operational backbone. With the recent launch of Fund II, we have a unique mandate to invest and transform Toyota.
I am proud and grateful to have such talented leaders stepping into each of these roles, setting the stage for Woven Capital’s continued growth and success. Please join me in congratulating Michiko and welcoming Mia to the team.
