Hikaru Sugata is a Liaison Manager at Woven Capital, where he drives strategic collaboration between Woven Capital and Toyota, leveraging his extensive expertise in business development and corporate transformation.

Previously, Hikaru was a Program Manager at Toyota’s early-stage venture arm, Toyota Ventures, where he worked closely with portfolio companies, facilitating partnerships that enabled Toyota to acquire new capabilities and drive innovation. Before that, he led business development initiatives at Toyota Motor Corporation, contributing to the launch of new businesses.

Hikaru began his career at Toyota as a Robotics Software Engineer, working on pioneering projects such as the Winglet, a self-balancing standing mobility device, and WelWalk, a rehabilitation robot designed to assist individuals in walking again. He also led a team in developing the “Future Car of 2050,” a concept vehicle exploring next-generation mobility solutions.

He holds a Master of Information Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering from The University of Tokyo. Hikaru is an inventor with several dozen patents to his name.
